1. Never Apologize For Dreaming Big!--It’s called Vision

God is ready to do BIG things. We have a HUGE GOD who can do things that are absolutely MIND BLOWING…and if we focus on HIS POWER rather than our limitations, we will always be willing to hear what He says and then do it…even though we don’t have all of our questions answered.

2. Never Apologize For Your Passion!--That’s evidence that God has stirred up your gift. It’s Your Time.

Jeremiah 20:9 is my verse…Jesus began a fire inside of me…and it has only gotten hotter. You can be consumed with passion…or be content with being passive. One, Jesus will use to change the world…the other, the enemy will use to dull your soul.

3. Never Apologize For Wanting To Lead!—You are a leader.

If you are called by God and gifted by God to lead…THEN LEAD! Here’s the deal…someone is going to make the decisions. Someone is going to call the shots…and if that is the call that God has put on your life, then DO IT! By the way…when you do this, it IS going to make people mad. AND…if you can’t handle the fact that people ARE going to hate you simply because you try your best to listen to Jesus and then do what He says…you may not be called to lead!

4. Never Apologize For Not Embracing Someone Else’s Agenda!—That simply means that you understand your mission.

You have got to understand that, as a leader, if you experience any level of success, then other people will always want to attach themselves and their agenda to you. I often tell people, “your burden is not my passion!” As leaders, we are responsible for embracing God’s vision for our lives…not everyone else’s!

5. Never Apologize For Expecting The Best From Others!—That‘s what God expects also. If better is possible, then good isn’t good enough.

Leaders cannot be afraid to set high standards…EVER! I believe it is WRONG to expect perfection from others…we’re all humans, we screw up! BUT…it isn’t wrong to expect others to give their best. (By the way…MOST of the time if people see the leader giving his/her best, it will inspire them to do the same!)

6. Never Apologize For Wanting To Reach More People!—That’s what you were created to do (Discipleship).

From time to time, people will take a shot at me for wanting to see more people come to church…and…I AM GUILTY AS CHARGED! I can’t help it…the change in life that Jesus has brought about in me…I want as many people as possible to hear about it! I want as many people as possible to have their lives changed. I want as many people as possible to KNOW that they KNOW JESUS! I just don’t see anywhere in Scripture where that is a bad thing. Don’t EVER apologize for embracing the fact that God has called us to RECONCILE (not REVILE) the world! (2 Corinthians 5:16-21)

7. Never Apologize For Saying “No” To What You KNOW You Need To Say “No” To!—That’s what focus looks like.

Just because we have opportunities doesn’t mean we need to embrace them…because saying “yes” to everything often means we have to say “no” to the things that are REALLY important.

Yesterday over 60 motorcycles and bicycles and 150 people gathered at Mt. Zion for our second BIKERS BLESSING.   We had a wonderful time, the highlight was everyone praying for themselves and others for a "SAFE RIDING SEASON". 

If you see an orange bandana, chances are they attended the 2014 Bikers Blessing!!

We asked the bikers to give us the TOP 10 things they wish for EVERY AUTOMOBILE DRIVER

1) Watch for and remember there are motorcycles on the road - check your rear and side view mirrors.

2) Avoid immediate stops when a biker is behind you

3) Don't split up packs

4) Use your blinkers

5) Don't text and drive

6) Keep your distance / don't follow too close

7) Remove hanging obstacles from you mirrors ( something the size of a pencil can block a motorcycle from your vision)

8) Don't cut them off

9) Don't pull out in front of them

10) Remember there are people under those helmets

Last Saturday was a National Holiday set aside to remember and pray for all lost and missing children.  Today as I listened to the news it hit me that among us are children that are lost and missing.  They are missing meals, school, discipline, structure, and respect for others to name a few.  Most of all we have children among us that are missing LOVE.  Love conquers all things.  If there is love, in the midst of a disagreement violence is not the solution.  Love heals not hurts.  Some are lost, they are not where they belong,  they are headed in the wrong direction.  Look around there are children in our midst that are lost and/or missing...do you see them?   The next time you see a lost or missing child ask your self so what, now what.  The opposite of missing/lost is found.

This Week's Featured Item- Lemony Dill Chicken Salad
Enjoy a slight twist on a classic chicken salad.  Try this as an open face sandwich on gluten-free bread or rolled into a brown rice tortilla.
  • 3 cups cooked chicken breast, chopped
  • 4 small celery ribs, finely chopped
  • 4 tablespoons red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 generous tablespoon fresh dill, minced
  • 4 tablespoons organic mayonnaise or Veganaise
  • A few squeezes of lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste (or lemon pepper)
  • 2 large whole wheat pitas, sliced in half
  • Red lettuce leaves
  • Sliced tomato (optional)

In a medium bowl, gently mix children, celery, onion, dill, mayonnaise, lemon juice, salt and pepper.  Fill each pita half with a lettuce leaf, a slice or two of tomato, then a quarter of the chicken salad.  Serves 4.

This Week's Snack
Cut fresh fruit into 1-2'' cubes including apples, pears, peaches, plums, apricots, etc. and place in a shallow baking dish.  Drizzle with balsamic vinegar and sprinkle fruit with dried allspice and cardamom.  Bake for 15 minutes at 375 degrees or until fruit is tender..

Featured Breakfast Entré - Breakfast Soft Tocos: by Sally Cameron, Personal Chef, www.AFoodCentricLife.com:
  • Crack 2 whole eggs (or 3 egg whites) into a small bowl and beat together with a fork or whisk until blended
  • Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  • Heat a small non-stick pan over medium heat.
  • Add a few drops of oil.
  • Pour in eggs and cook, stirring until cooked & scrambled.
  • Heat tortillas in the microwave or heat on an open gas flam turned to low, turning tortillas for a few seconds to heat while the eggs are cooking.
  • Divide the eggs between the warmed tortillas, sprinkle with cheese, cilantro and salsa if desired.
  • Fold in half & enjoy with warmed beans on the side for extra protein & healthy fiber.
  • Yield: 1 serving, 2 tacos
Featured Side Dish - Cauliflower Mash:
  • 1 Medium cauliflower, trimmed and diced
  • 2 Tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • Bring a pot of water to boil
  • Add cauliflower and cook until tender
  • Hold 1/4 cup of liquid and drain.
  • In a large bowl, mash cauliflower with reserved water and oil.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Add rosemary, thyme or curry powder if desired.
Featured Snack - Daniel Plan Signature by Chef Robert Sturm:
  • 1 cup strawberries, small diced
  • 1/4 cup organic yogurt
  • 2 tb of honey (Alternative: stevia)
  • 1/4 cup orange juice, fresh squeezed (about 1 orange)
  • Combine yogurt, honey and orange juice together.  Fill Popsicle mold with strawberries.  Fill mold with yogurt mix.  Place "STICK" into mold.  Freeze for 3-4 hours.  Serve.

Zion Baptist Church started the Next 40 Days of the Daniel Plan on May 7th.  This will be a powerful experience once again.  The first 40 yielded phenomenal results.  People have changed eating habits, exercising habits, and are enjoying life at a greater level.  For more information about the Daniel Plan please click here

Smoothie Recipe of the Week
  • 2 tablespoons of fresh lime juice
  • 2 cups of stemmed and chopped collard greens of spinach
  • 1 1/2 cups of frozen mango
  • 1 cup of green grapes
  • 1/2 cup of water
-  Combine all ingredients in a blender and puree until smooth, about one minute. Add more water to reach desired consistency

Featured Entré of the Week
  • 4 boneless chicken breasts (boil and cut in small pieces)
  • 1 onion and clove of garlic, diced and sautéed
  • 7 oz diced green chilis
  • 1 Tablespoon cumin
  • 1 15 oz can of hominy
  • 12 oz creamed corn
  • 1 1/2 Tablesppon chile powder
  • 3 cans white beans
  • 1 8 oz salsa verde mild
  • 1 15 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 1 bunch of cilantro chopped
  • 16 oz organic chicken broth

Stir ingredients together.  Can also serve with chopped avocado or shredded cheddar cheese.

We are on a journey to a healthier lifestyle.  In doing so we must make some changes and modifications to the way we have eaten for years.    We are choosing to return to the provisions God made and intended for us to live healthy lives, so we could conduct His Kingdom affairs. The Daniel Plan is not a fast but a lifestyle change, connecting Faith, Food, Fitness, Focus and Friends. 

We have nearly 70 teams and 600 people participating in the Daniel Plan, we are united in this effort and in support of each other.  Every Wednesday, Power Packed lessons are taught teams are communicating and doing group activities.  Yes we are working the plan.
